PHYSICAL ABUSE: MEN ARE TOO ASHAMED TO SHARE – ALIBABA

Popular comedian and filmmaker Atunyota Akpobome has highlighted that men go through unspeakable things in marriages.

Recently, a video of a lady repeatedly slapping a man said to be her husband trended on social media. Sharing the same clip on his Instagram page, the king of Nigerian comedy said that sadly, some men go through unspeakable things that hardly get mentioned.

According to him, when a man is physically abused, it’s considered a shame on the man. On the other hand, when a woman is physically abused, it’s shame on the man.

He said When a man controls his temper, he is considered a weakling, and when he doesn’t, he is said to be behaving like a woman. Some men in this kind of situation are too ashamed to even share that they are being violated like this. I know men who receive slaps every other day.

“One of my friends, in Lekki, called me one day in the middle of the night. Why? His wife had pushed him outside and locked the door behind him. He slept in a hotel after that day for a month. Another guy in Ogudu had his Nigerian passport, with all six visas, torn to shreds. The sad part is that if there was no video evidence, everyone would believe the woman could never do what she did.

He stated that women who exhibit the audacity to slap a man and damn the consequences are generally believed to be the ones footing the bills in their homes.

Alibaba further advised men to work hard and empower themselves so they don’t become “woman wrapper”.

Meanwhile, actress and singer, Waje has called for the arrest of the lady seen assaulting her husband in the clip.

Commenting on Alibaba’s post, she wrote; “A dark soul inflicts pain. If this isn’t a skit then she should be arrested. Say no to violence. Forget gender, everyone should face the consequence of an act this vile.
