KWARA APC COMMENCES LOCAL ELECTION PREPARATIONS

The Kwara State Chapter of the APC has initiated the processes for the upcoming Local Government and councilorship elections by holding a meeting with critical stakeholders. The meeting brought together party elders, executive members from the 16 local government areas and 193 Ward APC, as well as present and former chairmen and house of assembly members from the three Senatorial Districts in the state.

During the meeting, the state Chairman of the APC, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, welcomed attendees and set the agenda. He emphasized the need to dispel rumors that candidates had already been chosen without following due process, and he denied any interference from state-level executives.

Prince Fagbemi stated the party’s preference for adopting a consensus approach to candidate selection to avoid conflicts, but acknowledged that primaries would be held where necessary. Zoning arrangements within local governments were also highlighted as an important factor in candidate selection.

Each representative at the meeting provided insights into the elective rotations within their respective local governments and wards.

The discussions aimed to ensure transparency and fairness in the candidate selection process, emphasizing that no candidates had been pre-selected for any local government position. This exercise was vital in clarifying the party’s commitment to a democratic and inclusive election process.
