FILM PRODUCTION AMONG 18 KWASU PROGRAMMES VALIDATED BY NUC


The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status to 18 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes presented by the Kwara State University (KWASU).

NAN reports that Saeedat Aliyu, acting director of public relations at the state university, confirmed this in a statement.

Aliyu said KWASU applied for programme accreditation with the NUC in the commission’s October/November 2023 round.

He said the accreditation of 18 KWASU programmes was conveyed in a letter to Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh the vice-chancellor.

The letter, dated June 6, 2024, was signed by Abraham Chundusu, the acting director of accreditation.

Aliyu said six post-graduate and 12 undergraduate programmes were granted accreditation valid for five years.

Among the programmes are Public Health, Film Studies & Production, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Food Science & Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Fine & Applied Arts.

Others are Chemistry, Plant & Environmental Biology, Political Science, Tourism & Hospitality Management, and Mass Communication.

The post-graduate programmes are M.Sc. Accounting, M.Sc. Business Administration, Masters in Business Administration, M.Sc. Finance, M.Sc. Public Administration, and a Masters in Public Administration.

Aliyu quoted the vice-chancellor as describing the outcome as reflective of the commitment of the management and staff of the university.

The Kwara State University is a state-owned public research tertiary institution in Malete, Kwara, Nigeria.

It is reported to be the 77th university to be registered by NUC and the 95th to be recognised in Nigeria.
